Prompt: Write About A Time You Realised You Were Mistaken
One of the biggest lessons I have learnt was that often times, when someone rejects something that I have offered to them, the problem isn’t that there’s an issue with me, but rather that there’s an issue with them. I picked up this idea from a book I came across, by some guy who tried to get one hundred Nos in one hundred days, or something like that. This is one of the big lessons that he offers in the book he wrote: that it’s not something about you that causes people to reject you, but rather it’s something that’s inside the other person. This is one of the things that I’ve often been mistaken about, because I normally take rejection way too personally. Learning this lesson about the true nature of rejection, has made it much easier to offer people ideas, stories and invitations, without taking a No to heart. That used to be a big mistake I used to make, but now it feels as though I’m processing rejection differently, thanks largely to that book I came across.
